ASUU STRIKE LIKELY TO BE CALLED OFF TODAY.

The Minister of Education Prof. Ruquyyatu Rufai has expressed hope that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is likely to be called off after today's meeting between the union and the Federal Government. For the second month running, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is prosecuting an indefinite strike action to press home their demand for the implementation of a 2009 agreement reached with the Federal Government and a Memorandum of Understanding entered into with the same government based on the 2009 agreement. Let us hope that both parties come to an understanding and schools can be re-opened....
