FEDERAL GOVERNMENT UNABLE TO MEET ASUU DEMANDS

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo -Iweala dashed any hopes of a quick resolution of the face-off between ASUU and the Federal Government as she said the government has no resources to meet ASUU's demands. She said the striking lecturers are asking for 92 billion naira in extra allowances which the government cannot afford because its demands clash with a time when the government is making efforts to reduce the cost of public expenditure. Didn't the federal government agree to ASUU's terms back in 2009? Besides all the money we are borrowing from the UN and the Islamic development bank can be diverted to resolving this crisis. Haba!
