The scheduled visit of President
Goodluck Jonathan to the National Assembly on Tuesday to present the estimates
of the 2014 budget has been cancelled. A key reason for the cancellation is
centered on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, which has not been approved
by the National Assembly.

Jonathan has assured that power generation and supply across the country would
be stable by the end of November 2014.

Assembly has elected Josiah Kente as the new Speaker. Kente was elected to replace

has experienced for the past year.

have announced an agreement to cooperate on resolving outstanding issues
regarding the country's nuclear program.
= According to reports one of the
most senior leaders of the Haqqani militant network has been shot dead near the
Pakistani capital, Islamabad
= The five candidates for the
2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year award have been revealed. Ivory Coast's
Yaya Toure has made the shortlist for the fifth consecutive year and is joined
by Nigerians Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi, Burkina Faso's Jonathan Pitroipa and
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon.
