The scheduled visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the National Assembly on Tuesday to present the estimates of the 2014 budget has been cancelled. A key reason for the cancellation is centered on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, which has not been approved by the National Assembly.

= Also President Goodluck Jonathan has assured that power generation and supply across the country would be stable by the end of November 2014.

= The Taraba State House of Assembly has elected Josiah Kente as the new Speaker. Kente was elected to replace Haruna Tsokwa, who died after a brief illness on November 4th. 

= Governor Abiola Ajimobi  of Oyo State has sworn-in 12 commissioners into the state executive cabinet while urging them to be diligent in discharging their duties.

= The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, today swore in the new 15 local government council chairmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

= Somalia's president has asked the prime minister to resign, in a blow to the rare political stability Somalia has experienced for the past year.

= The United Nations and Iran have announced an agreement to cooperate on resolving outstanding issues regarding the country's nuclear program.

= According to reports one of the most senior leaders of the Haqqani militant network has been shot dead near the Pakistani capital, Islamabad

= The five candidates for the 2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year award have been revealed. Ivory Coast's Yaya Toure has made the shortlist for the fifth consecutive year and is joined by Nigerians Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi, Burkina Faso's Jonathan Pitroipa and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon.

= Barcelona and Argentina forward Lionel Messi has been ruled out for between six to eight weeks due to a hamstring injury he picked up on Sunday. 

= Justin Bieber is recovering from food poisoning while on tour in Argentina but has managed to take to his Twitter account to say thank you for his MTV Europe Music Awards win.
