= The federal government has extended the appointment of Dr. Emeka Eze as director general of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPP) for a second and final four-year tenure.

= The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has alleged that none of the universities has received any money from the 100 billion naira the Federal Government claimed to have disbursed.

= Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State says his administration has placed orders for armoured tanks from China to fight crime in the state. The governor disclosed that the armoured tanks will be stationed in Ejigbo, Ode-Omu, Ede and Iwo amongst other towns.

= According to a report by Thisday Newspaper, at least eight ministers, who are expected to pursue their goals to become governors, will soon be relieved of their jobs.

= The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its decision not to participate in the November 2nd, 2013 council elections in Enugu State.

= A South African man found guilty of the rape and brutal murder of a 17-year-old girl has been sentenced to two life terms in prison by a court near Cape Town.

= US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that in some cases, US spying has gone too far. Mr. Kerry is the most senior Obama administration official to have commented directly on an issue that has upset America's European allies.

= Thailand's lower house of parliament has passed a political amnesty bill that critics say could allow the return of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinwatra.

= The Nigeria Football Federation has invited Egyptian football legend Mohammed Abou-Treika to a charity match to help raise money for cancer victims.  

= Russian football has been thrown into another scandal after a match between Spartak Moscow and Shinnik Yaroslavyl was marred by crowd trouble which saw a Nazi flag unfolded.


= Justin Bieber has bought his dad an $850,000 house in Ontario, Canada to share with his half-sister Jazmyn and half-brother Jaxson. The-19-year-old star purchased a five- bedroom cabin-style house so that his father, half-sister and half-brother can live a comfortable life.
