Founder of Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation, Mr Bill Gates yesterday, called for sustained collaborative efforts
of stakeholders to eradicate the wild polio virus from Nigeria, when he led
other members of his foundation on a courtesy call to Gov. Babatunde Fashola of
Lagos state at the Government House in Ikeja. Governor Fashola who told Mr
Gates that several efforts were being made at national and state levels to
eradicate the virus, expressed his administration’s willingness to partner the
Bill Gates and Dangote’s Foundation in the bid to eradicate the virus. He also
noted that the full involvement of survivors in addition to efforts being made
at all levels would ensure the success of the battle against polio. Earlier,
Mr. Bill Gates said he was optimistic that Nigeria will come out tops in the
combat against polio, and extended the hands of partnership to the Lagos state
Government. Mr. Gates who said he was visiting Lagos for the second time also
commended Governor Fashola for the development in the state.
