NAPEP AND ITS INACCESSIBLE FUNDS QUIZZED BY THE SENATE

Why won’t we have cash flow problems in this country when huge amounts are being given to corrupt and incompetent people.…smh. The Senate has quizzed the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) over an inaccessible 12 billion naira poverty reduction fund.  While 10 billion naira was discovered to have been trapped in some failed financial institutions, 150 million naira was carted away by a contractor who was to supply spare parts for the tricycles otherwise known as Keke NAPEP. The Senator Ahmed Lawan-led Committee on Public Account also said the agency paid additional 171 million naira as custom duties for the spare parts that were not supplied and paid another 1.4 billion naira for projects that have not been verified by the Auditor General of the Federation.  Meanwhile, though the NAPEP agency claims it lacks the structural framework to possibly recover the missing funds, the committee directed it to re-appear next week Monday with details of all expenditure and purchases or face sanction. I had no idea such huge amounts were involved in the NAPEP initiative. The 150 million naira given to one person has been “carted away”, please is the contractor a ghost? What is EFCC and ICPC planning to do? An initiative that is supposed to eradicate poverty ,the irony…
