#HEADLINES

= The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Godknows Igali, says the Federal Government had disbursed over N294 billion to disengaged Phcn workers.

= The Senate Ad hoc Committee on SURE-P has threatened to henceforth stop appropriating fund to the Subsidy Reinvestment Empowerment Programme, following the persistent refusal by some ministers to honour invitations to render accounts of their stewardship in their various ministries.

= Also, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has disclosed that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) purchased two armoured vehicles for the office of its Managing Director. 

= In line with the ongoing investigative hearing, the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation yesterday re-issued its summon on the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah to appear before it today, October 31st.

= And finally on the local scene, the National President of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Mr. Chibuzor Asomugha has stated that the ongoing strike embarked upon by the union will continue until the Federal Government meets their demands.

= Rescue workers in Niger say they have found the bodies of 87 people who died of thirst after their vehicles broke down as they tried to cross the Sahara.
