#HEADLINES


= The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the November 16th, 2013 governorship election in Anambra State inconclusive and ordered supplementary election in 208 polling units which have registered voters strength of 113,113, in parts of the state.  

= Governor Abiola  Ajimobi of Oyo State, at the week-end, claimed full responsibility for the appointment of the children of some traditional rulers as commissioners in the state, saying that none of their fathers solicited for their appointment. Rather, he said that he picked them out of his own volition, based on their individual competence, qualification and pedigree which qualified them for their appointment.

= Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, urging them to investigate alleged shortfall in the remittance of accrued funds for the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, projects amounting to over N500 billion from January 2012 to September 2013.

= Indications have emerged, that banks operating in the country may shut down operations nationwide in protest over the continued detention of key officers of about 18 banks by the Department of State Services over allegation of money laundering.

= Cameroon's army has repelled a cross-border raid by gunmen from the Central African Republic (CAR), killing six of the attackers and capturing one of them, the defence ministry says.

= A gunman has opened fire at the Paris offices of the left-wing newspaper Liberation, leaving a photographer's assistant seriously wounded.

= Super Eagles striker Victor Obinna Nsofor has been ruled out of the friendly with Italy due to the injury he sustained in the game against Ethiopia, though he is in London with the team.

= In Tennis… The Czech Republic defeated Serbia 3-2 to lift the Davis Cup and became only the fifth country to retain the title since the formation of the World Group stage in 1981.    

= Chris Brown has left a rehabilitation centre but is "continuing his rehab program as an outpatient" while completing his community service.
