IMO STATE POLICE COMMAND MAY EMBARK ON STRIKE


The Inspectors, Rank and File of the Nigeria Police, Imo state command, may commence an indefinite strike action in November if their demands are not addressed.Rising from a crucial meeting in Benin, Edo State, some delegates of the officers tabled their demands to include the reverse of the recent mass transfer of officers, numbering about 100 from the cadre of Inspectors, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and the Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to the troubled areas in the far north on what they called “Political reasons”, allegedly master minded by the Imo state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Musa Katsina.They also alleged that some Inspectors had spent about eight years and 30 years without promotion.Meanwhile, the Police Force Headquarters has said the transfer of the policemen to other parts of the country will not be revisited, warning the affected officers against blackmailing the police authorities.The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, who was reacting yesterday to the threat of a strike by some policemen in Imo State, stated that the Nigeria Police Force is a national organization where police personnel could be deployed to serve in any part of the country.If policemen that are supposed to protect lives are scared,then I don't know...
