POLITICAL VIOLENCE IN EKITI

The internal crisis currently rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, at the weekend, took a dangerous dimension, as two members of Ekiti Bibire Coalition (EBC), Mr. Foluso Ogundare and Mrs. Beatrice Ige, were on Sunday shot during an attack on members of the group in Emure-Ekiti, Emure Local Government Area of the state.The EBC is the political platform and independent campaign outfit of the House of Representatives member and governorship aspirant in the state, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele.Source hinted that members of the group were holding their meeting in the evening of the fateful day at Ward 03 in Emure-Ekiti, when some hoodlums stormed the venue and started shooting sporadically, at the end of which the two people sustained grievous injuries.It was gathered that during the attack, the two members of the group, were shot at close range and in various parts of their bodies.It was further learnt that Ogundare, who was said to have been shot in the stomach later died at about 10.25 p.m. on Sunday night, at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ido Ekiti, while Ige, who was shot in the buttock, was presently receiving treatment at the state Teaching Hospital Ado-Ekiti.
