#HEADLINES

= The House of Representatives has moved to override President Jonathan’s veto on bills passed by the 7th National Assembly.

= Fresh crisis looms in the power sector as workers of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria have summoned an emergency meeting to deliberate on the next line of action, following the alleged sack of majority of the workers and failure of the federal government to proceed with the payment of their entitlements, in line with the agreement reached with the government on October 31st, 2013.   

= A Swiss non-governmental organisation, The Berne  Declaration, has released a report that has indicted Nigerian oil marketing companies for widespread subsidy fraud, involving several billions of dollars.

= Burundi police say more than 40 human skulls have been found at the Burundian home of an Italian expatriate Giussepe Favaro who was arrested last month after two skulls were intercepted at the airport. 

= Italian police have arrested a 24-year-old Somali man in connection with last month's boat disaster off Lampedusa in which 366 African migrants died.

= Palestinian officials say Israel is the "only suspect" in the death of leader Yasser Arafat following a Swiss report that said his remains contained high levels of radioactive polonium.

= Ethiopia will face Iraq in a friendly this evening in Amman, Jordan ahead of their 2014 World Cup playoff clash against Nigeria.

= Argentine pair Sergio Aguero and Mauricio Pochettino have won the Barclays Player and Manager of the Month awards for October.


= American actress Jennifer Lawrence has misplaced her Oscar. The 23-year-old actress won the prestigious Best Actress Academy Award earlier this year for her role as Tiffany Maxwell  in 'Silver Linings Playbook', in which she starred alongside Bradley Cooper.
