= The Federal Government says it has so far spent N609 billion to settle labour liabilities in privatized public enterprises between 2000 and 2013.

= The House of Representatives has passed for second reading a Bill which sought to regulate how the Police and other security agencies in the country could track and monitor telephone and internet communications involving suspected terrorists in Nigeria.

= An Abuja High Court has adjourned the trial of a former Chairman of the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Monitoring of the Fuel Subsidy Regime, Farouk Lawan, to await the report of an appeal filed by the lawmaker. 

= The Kwara State governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed has dissolved his cabinet comprising commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants. 

= Six persons with alleged links with the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, were arrested at the Maiduguri International Airport while returning from hajj in Saudi Arabia.

= At least seven police have been killed in Tunisia in clashes with Islamist militants.

= The US ambassador to Germany, John B. Emerson, is expected to meet foreign minister Guido Westerwelle this afternoon over claims that the US monitored German Chancellor Angela Merkel's mobile phone.

= A plane fighting bushfires in the Australian state of New South Wales has crashed, killing its pilot, as the military faced criticism for starting one of the major fires.
