The Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) has summoned the Anambra State Resident Election
Commissioner (REC) Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, to Abuja to explain his role in
the inconclusive governorship election in the state. Onukaogu has been accused
of helping the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to gain dominance over
the opposition parties during the election. The Anambra governorship election
has been widely condemned by the international community, election observers
and civil right groups and contesting political parties following the
irregularities that marred the exercise.
