The House of Representatives has along with the senate also approved
the extension of emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe for another six
months. President Goodluck Jonathan, in a letter dated Nov. 5, to the National
Assembly, sought an extension of emergency rule he declared in the states on
May 14. This resolution followed a motion by the Majority Leader, Mulikat
Akande-Adeola, which was unanimously adopted without debate after a closed-door
meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff and service chiefs.
