= President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed delight over Nigeria’s election into the non-permanent seat of the United Nations Security Council. 

= Also the President may soon announce the board of the Niger Delta Commission (NDDC) with Bassey Dan Abia, a former acting Chairman of the commission, as the substantive Managing Director.

= The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Festus Odimegwu has resigned his appointment from the Commission. 

= A threat by officers and men of the Imo State Police Command to go on strike over their posting to troubled states of the north has attracted public anger and calls for sanctions.

= Two burnt bodies pulled from Kenya's Westgate shopping Centre on Thursday are "highly likely" to be two of the attackers.
