NAIROBI WESTGATE SHOPPING CENTER ATTACK LEAVES AT LEAST 68 DEAD
Gunmen stormed a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya over the weekend, killing at least 68 people and injuring about 175 people, in what could possibly be a terrorist attack. The Somali militant group al Shabaab had previously threatened to attack hotels, nightclubs and the Westgate mall, which is one of the biggest malls in the city, popular with the city's expatriate and foreigners. Defense official, Col Cyrus Oguna, however told newsmen that most of the people caught up in the attack, have been rescued, while a large part of the building was now under the control of the security forces. Meanwhile, breaking news say Gunfire has been heard inside the shopping mall where between 10 and 15 militants are believed to be holding more hostages.
