EGYPT SENTENCES MORSI'S SUPPORTERS TO LIFE IN PRISON
Eleven supporters of Egypt's ousted President Mohammed Morsi have been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of attacking the army. The men were accused of wounding soldiers, sabotaging armoured vehicles and burning churches during riots in the port city of Suez last month. An Egyptian court also ordered the closure of four television channels that have been accused of sympathizing with the Muslim Brotherhood, including the Brotherhood's own station, Ahrar 25, and the Egyptian arm of Al-Jazeera. Meanwhile, the Egyptian army has launched helicopter strikes against suspected militant targets in the Sinai Peninsula, killing a number of people.
