SYRIA VS THE WEST; THE AFTERMATH OF CHEMICAL ATTACKS
US Presidet Barack Obama has said any strike against Syria would be to "send a warning shot" to deter future chemical weapons attacks by the current regime although the US had no yet made a firm decision about how to respond. President Obama who disclosed hat the US had concluded that the Syrian government carried out the large-scale chemical weapons attack against civilians last week, noted that from examined evidence, the rebels did not possess chemical weapons nor have the means to deliver them. Meanwhile, the UK has put a suggested resolution to the five permanent members of the UN Security Council "authorizing all necessary measures to protect civilians" in Syria, but Russia has said the UN must finish its investigation into the claims before discussing any resolution. Also, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that his country wanted to keep out of the Syrian crisis, but would "respond forcefully" to any attempt to attack it, Israel is developing its entire missile defences as a precaution against possible Syrian retaliatory attacks should western powers carry out threatened strikes on it.
