AUTONOMY FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

One step forward, two steps back. The house of reps voted in favour of autonomy for local governments as part of their constitution amendment. The senate however has refused, could this be because a lot of senators are ex-governors (maybe there's something they know that we don't). But do we even realise what this would do for us or what it means? Autonomy is the condition of self-government especially in a particular region. It means we have every right to hold our councillors, wardens, local government chairperson accountable for our healthcare system, roads, power supply, education and so on. It only makes sense beacause that is our closest representative of government. Why the senate has refused remains a mystery *sigh*
