The National President of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, Dr Nasir Isa Fagge has said the union is not under pressure to suspend the over one month old strike. However, the meeting scheduled to hold yesterday between the Federal Government Needs Assesment to Nigerian Universities Implementation Committee and ASUU was stalled due to the inability of a sub committee on infrastructure to submit its report. This report would help guide the meeting on its delibrations and since it wasn't available,Fagge said the strike would continue as long as "government refuses to do the right thing". The government’s refusal to meet its end of the Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, entered with ASUU in 2009, where government promised to release N100 billion immediately out of the N500billion it agreed to pay for infrastructural decay of Nigerian universities.
